Keeping inventory
Make sure you keep a detailed inventory while you pack so that you stay organized and don't have problems finding things when you get to your new home.
Create an inventory of three categories: things that the mover will handle, things to be handled by yourself, and things to be left behind, donated, sold or trashed.
Make a complete list of the things that will be included in the move, and give values for insurance purposes.
Keep track of all items that may be difficult to replace. You should carry these things with you or ship them to your new home by insured or certified mail.
Inventory for your mover
We will give you an inventory sheet for the move (this apply only to long distance moves and storage). The inventory sheet should be a complete list of all the items you will have us move and or placed in storage. The mover will write down the condition of each of your items for the customer's protection. Movers are not liable for the boxes you pack yourself.
Please don't sign the inventory sheet until you are in full agreement with all comments.
When your things are delivered, it is your responsibility to check the items delivered against the inventory items. If you find new damage, record it on the inventory form. The driver must record the damage on his copy of the inventory sheet.
Once all proper notations are made for any damaged or missing items, sign the inventory list and this will become the driver's receipt.
